UPDATE MAY 18, 2021 Mask Update Dear St. Patrick Parish family, The Archdiocese of St. Louis announced changes to our Covid-19 policy on Friday, May 14, 2021. The following is the statement regarding parishes: "The mask mandate now only applies to all parish faithful who have not received a vaccination against the COVID-19 virus. Following the CDC guidance issued yesterday, capacity restrictions and social-distancing measures at archdiocesan parishes will be determined by the parish pastor based on the size and construct of the parish, and what he deems is needed to provide for the safest possible environment. These changes in guidance are effective immediately; however, the timeline for implementation in each parish will be determined by the pastor based on specific needs to make a safe and appropriate transition. Changes should be implemented at all parishes no later than Sunday, May 23. Archbishop Mitchell Rozanski leaves in place the dispensation for Sunday Mass at this time, but will be re-evaluating the need for the dispensation in the coming weeks." Accordingly, at St. Patrick Parish, as of this weekend (May 22-23), we will open the left half of the Church for open seating. The right side will still have the rope in place for those that choose to social distance. Mask wearing is required for unvaccinated individuals. Mask wearing is optional for those that are fully vaccinated. I am asking everyone to be mindful that there are many who are apprehensive of returning to Mass or participating with lessened restrictions. Therefore, please be respectful of anyone who chooses to wear a mask and give them some space. Washing and sanitizing of hands will continue to be strongly encouraged. Priests, deacons, and ministers will be wearing masks for the distribution of Holy Communion for the time being. If you are ill, please refrain from coming to Church. The dispensation from the requirement to attend Mass has not been lifted. Therefore, if you are not comfortable attending Mass, you still have the option to virtually attend Mass via our parish livestream on Facebook Live or YouTube. You may access those from our parish website. I look forward to welcoming more people back to Church and gathering as the family of St. Patrick Parish. Please continue to care for one another and respect the comfort level of others with regard to distance, mask usage, etc. Thank you for your support. Be assured of my prayers for you and your loved ones. Sincerely in Christ, Fr. Brian Fischer UPDATE MARCH 1, 2021 Archbishop Mitchell Rozanski has mandated that masks are required for entry into archdiocesan parishes and must be worn during the entirety of the Mass except at the moment of receiving Holy Communion. In response to growing concerns regarding the spread of the Coronavirus and following the closure of Missouri public and private schools in our area, Archbishop of St. Louis Robert J. Carlson announced today the temporary suspension of publicly celebrated Masses. archstl.org/coronavirus
The following has been decided:
Essential to the continued operation of our parish and our mission, please use online giving or drop-off or mail-in your weekly contribution to the parish office. When parishioners are prevented from attending weekend Masses, our Offertory suffers. This has a direct impact on the funds we have available each week to pay our bills and meet our payroll. The problem becomes even more complicated when we are forced to cancel fundraising events such as our Fish Frys.
We realize we have many parishioners who are more vulnerable to the coronavirus and have difficulty leaving the house during this time. If you are in this situation, or if you are willing to go to the store or cook meals for those who are in need, please contact the parish office at 636-332-9225.

Catholics are encouraged to make a 'spiritual communion'. St. John Paul II writes that "it is good to cultivate in our hearts a constant desire for the sacrament of the Eucharist. This was the origin of the practice of 'spiritual communion', which has happily been established in the Church for centuries and recommended by saints who were masters of the spiritual life. Saint Teresa of Jesus wrote: 'When you do not receive communion and you do not attend Mass, you can make a spiritual communion, which is a most beneficial practice; by it the love of God will be greatly impressed on you.'" (Ecclesia Eucharistia, no. 34)
Below are recommendations for how to make a 'spiritual communion' when unable to participate in the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass. The recommendations can be adapted based upon personal and family needs.
Soul of Christ, sanctify me.
Body of Christ, save me.
Blood of Christ, embolden me.
Water from the side of Christ, wash me.
Passion of Christ, strengthen me.
O good Jesus, hear me.
Within thy wounds hide me.
Never permit me to be parted from you.
From the evil Enemy defend me.
In the hour of my death call me.
and bid me come to thee,
that with your saints I may praise thee
for age upon age.
Amen.
Behold, O good and loving Jesus, that I cast myself on my knees before you and, with the greatest fervor of spirit, I pray and beseech you to instill into my heart ardent sentiments of faith, hope and charity, with true repentance for my sins and a most firm purpose of amendment. With deep affection and sorrow I ponder intimately and contemplate in my mind your five wounds, having before my eyes what the prophet David had already put in your mouth about yourself, O good Jesus: They have
pierced my hands and my feet; they have numbered all my bones (Ps. 21: 17-18).
My Jesus, I believe that You are present in the Most Holy Sacrament.
I love You above all things, and I desire to receive You into my soul.
Since I cannot at this moment receive You sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart.
I embrace You as if You were already there and unite myself wholly to You.
Never permit me to be separated from You.
Amen.
